This is what sucks so much about UIGEA (and for that matter, any government regulation). I'm not really even surprised in the least that Huckabee answered "Yes." Now it's accepted that this is government's business, and it's viewed in the backwards "those wackos want to LEGALIZE INTERNET GAMBLING!?" mindset.

Before UIGEA, even politicians who represent social conservatives could get away with not caring much about internet gambling, not thinking it's a concern of government, worth the effort, etc. But now there is no way a politician like Huckabee can support actively making it legal. Now people are mindfucked into seeing this legislation in the same way they see education and welfare, where they assume the position that wants to remove the policy is the extreme one.
