theory question: how much do you raise the River as a bluff?
So bluff raising (and bluff check raising) the river really isn't part of my arsenal. I'm interested in what spots you do this.
First, I'm guessing in general it needs to be against reasonable, thinking players - since the fish are too dumb usually to lay it down. What specific types of reads encourage you to bluff the player? Second, how much do you raise? Take the following example, where I make a bad River bet for 1/3 the pot that looks like either a bluff or a blocker. http://forumserver.twoplustwo.com/showfl...=0#Post12525798 If you are the villain, do you make a raise for the size of the pot? More? Less? Just assume very deep stacks, if you don't want to review the hand itself. |

Enough to get you to fold a bluff and middle pair and pretty much nothing more than that. Very player dependent.

I'm raising the same amount I would with the made hand I'm repping. What do you bet with the nuts when trying to make it look like you're bluffing?

i think the kind of player that you're best using river bluff raises on is the guy that gets greedy and goes for 3 streets of value with any half decent hand. not only will it have a high success rate, but it slows them down a little against you, beacuse they might peg you as a slowplayer and not want to get sucked in.

River bluff hands when the majority of your range hits the river.
For example bluffing a completed 3 flush board. |

Re: theory question: how much do you raise the River as a bluff?
I don't do it very often, and i think we should be playing higher than SSNL to make c/r bluff profitable since your opponents are more likely to be thinking players at higher levels. That said ofcourse it can be profitable, but you need to be very certain that your oppoent is capeable of folding hands. In general c/r bluffs are very expensive because your putting alot of money in the pot, so you need to be succesful alot.
