Three barrels vs. a straightforward regular
villain is a pretty straightforward tag regular, he wont play me hu so i figure i have some psychological advantage. he just made a loose push on me with 32dd on a Jd7d5s flop in a multiway pot and shortly after that I got caught with a bluff on a dry A high board against another player at the same table. i think he is the kinda guy that gives you more respect after youve just got caught bluffing/looked up light, thinking i wont bluff again.
then this hands comes up.. like/dislike? is it better/worse if the river is 2d instead? Re: Three barrels vs. a straightforward regular
Yep, like how you played it. Normally I give up when he calls the flop, but the board came out pretty well for this (no cards that would scare you off a good hand, crap like 98 hit a pair and has some showdown value so less likely you are bluffing with it) and the history is good. Bet sizing is perfect.

Re: Three barrels vs. a straightforward regular
I don't think the river being 2d would change anything. Either he believes you have a set/54/random luckbox hand and folds or he doesn't and calls. Isn't this just one of those hands where you have to do it every once in a while but not too often, and it depends on past double-barrel frequency and river play?

I also like the bet sizing if it is going to be done.

If it wasn't against a regular I think it would be bad.

Re: Three barrels vs. a straightforward regular
meh, i don't like it.
i think the flop and turn are fine, but the river is no good imho. clubs get there and so does 45, and what is he folding on this river after calling the turn w/ your description of him? seems like he either gives up on the turn, or calls the turn b/c he is calling the river or he picked up a flush draw. meh. |

Re: Three barrels vs. a straightforward regular
i'd guess he rarely calls the turn to fold the river.
