Default QJs flops OESD in blind battle

I'm running awful at this table for 30+ hands. Only solid player at the table is on my right. I literally have not won a pot when this hand comes up between us.

PokerStars 10/20 Hold'em (6 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: 2+2 Forums)

Preflop: Hero is BB with J[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
4 folds, SB raises, Hero 3-bets, SB calls.

Flop: (6 SB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players)

Turn: (6 BB) 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)

River: (8 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players)

Fine. Riverbluff is not worth it. He is showing down acehigh almost always, I think. Only other play is to spew some more on flop or turn, but given your image, that's probably not a good idea.

What exactly is your question? I think that your play was fine. The only other two options here are to play passively and give up on the river when you miss, or to throw in an occasional turn bluff raise and a river followup bet. If Villain is a decent player you are bound to get looked up fairly light on this innocuous board, though.

Hey why raise the flop. Doesn't he pretty much always want to bet/3-bet?

exactly my thought! If a cap doesnt slow him down at all, your in real bad shape, but if u cap at the sb level and check through the bb level, its still half bet cheaper and maybe we have river fold equity?

I'm mostly with Miles - while his lead isn't always a b/3b, raising has almost no immediate folding equity and buys you a free card (if you want it) less often than it costs you a 3b. It might even have negative overall FE since the pot will be large on the turn and he'll want to get to showdown more often. Of course I almost always raise the turn UI after I call his flop bet.

Given that you 3bet preflop and played this way so far, I actually think a river bluff might be worth it. Doesn't have to work often and you can put him in a tough spot if he played K8, KJ, A8, Kxdd aggressively postflop. If you had KJ+ here I'd think you'd have enough showdown value given that Axdd will call the river a fair % of the time anyway.

I'd also generally call the flop and raise the turn and bet the river here a lot as opposed to raising the flop.
