andrew was the first name i though about when i read this.

Can you describe him? Is he one of the regular high limit players, or am I thinking of someone else.

By the way, the "Andrew" arrested obviously was not me. My life is not that interesting.

[/ QUOTE ]

You're probably thinking of the right person. He looks Italian, short hair, medium/slender build, medium height. Been playing more no-limit recently than anything else (at least when I've been around).

His buddy Ian is also listed as charged. As someone above mentioned, if some of these regulars are banned, some of the games will definitely affected.

[/ QUOTE ]

If the "Andrew" that you just described has black hair, then I am thinking of the right person.

Are you sure that the Ian named in this list of those charged - "Ian Blackman" - is the same Ian that plays regularly in the 80/160 and 40/80 limit games? I've played with 80/160 Ian a ton but never knew his last name, and I don't think that we should fan rumors unless we are sure.

-- Jeffrey Ebert, 45, Ventnor, poker room supervisor. Also charged with criminal usury.

Isn't Jeff the very fat guy? Its been too long for me, i don't recognize the others

[/ QUOTE ]

I **think** that Jeff is a supervisor at the Trop poker room. I could be wrong since I haven't been to the Trop in some time, but I remember a floorman named Jeff. The MSNBC article linked above lists Jeff as 45 years old; the guy that I remember from the Trop was in his mid-forites.

Also, I must go on record that I think this is quite possibly the dumbest thing that anyone has ever done in a poker room. People, if you are going to commit a felony, don't do it in a place that is covered by video surveillance 24 hours a day and frequently monitored by law enforcement officials. Duh.

According to the list of suspects from WNBC, the Jeffrey Ebert who was arrested is an employee of the Borgata, not the Trop.

Mainstream media articles about this incident conflict on some minor points, which is not surprising given that we don't yet have all of the details about the incident. Articles in both the Philadelphia Daily News and Card Player Magazine list Ebert as a Trop supervisor. I remember him as a fairly tall man with thinning brown hair and glasses.

Oh, I hadn't seen that. Then I'd suspect the two you cite are right. It seems like a plausible error that NBC would get a list of "casino employees" and assume that meant they all worked at the Borg; by contrast, it'd be weird for the PDN to make up that he works at the Trop.

Yes, that's Andrew.

And I'm positive that's the right Ian, I've played with him at those limits and know him better than I do Andrew. Plus I've always known his last name, got his cell # as well. For the record I think Ian's a nice guy.

He's always been a nice guy to me too, though I can't say that I know him very well. I've always gotten along fine with the people from the list of those charged whose names I recognize. This whole scandal is just really dumb. I suppose that greed got the better of those involved. ???50% interest??? Come on. That's ASKING for someone to narc.
