An Open Letter in Response to a PM
My Dearest DcifrThs,
Not good enough. Remember that one? Here is what you need to publicly apologize for before we can talk about the money supply: A) Personally insulting me by saying that I, among other "ACists" and Austrians "regurgitate drivel." B) Personally insulting me by calling me dense and continuing with your erroneous claims about what the Austrians say after I corrected you about what Austrians claim about the relationship between the Fed's interest rate target, the increase of the money supply, and the actual change of interest rates. C) Trying to change the subject from the above to a passing remark about M3 to avoid having to admit you were wrong about what the Austrians claim, and an insulting jerk to boot, or apologize for it. D) Personally insulting me in the title (and OP) of a purposefully deceptive thread designed to accomplish (C) that I have to look at every single [censored] day. If you publicly acknowledge each and every one of these things and apologize for them, in this thread, and promise not to be a jackass, then we can have a polite discussion about the money supply. What you did do, for the one thousandth time, was indicate that the Austrians made mistaken claims about what the order of operations was in terms of interest rate and money supply: "this sounds like some typical drivel regurgitated from ACists or something (or austrians or whatever group is always commenting on the demise of the dollar). / first off, the statement is totally backwards . . . " That is an exact quote. That is what you said. Then you proceded to describe the situation the same way the Austrians do, indicating that apparently the Austrians are neither backwards nor regurgitating drivel. I pointed this out to you, and then you said: "the situation exactly as the austrians describe it (i.e. what the OP said) is not how it actually works in reality despite the fact that the result is the same." Thus reiterating your claim that the Austrians have it backward, like the OP, and that it is incorrect. I corrected you once more, and you proceeded to call me dense and attempt to change the subject to M3. I've written this several times now. I don't know how to make it clearer. I've quoted your exact words and their meaning seems pretty explicit to me. I don't think this was ever in contention by anybody. I just wanted to emphasize it, lest the intent (to lower the interest rate) be lost behind the mechanism (increasing the money supply). I have already axplained this explicitly as well, in the other thread. What this leads me to believe is that you don't actually READ the posts you are responding to, which leaves me in doubt as to whether we can EVER have any kind of meaningful discussion without getting sidetracked by ridiculous things. I mean, why am I wasting my time on this post? I have little evidence that you will read it and try to understand it before firing off some cockeyed response that misses the point of or misconstrues half of what I've said. |

So i normally read some other forums and decided (BORDEM OCCURED) to take a look at the politics forum as i have never done. For whatever reason this is the first thread i opened... is this the kind of crap i should expect while i continue reading this forum? Seems like this thread is just all about one person's obsession with how they are perceived by others and their consequent whinefest. Have we gotten ourselvs so involved here at "2+2 Policitcs" that we have to resort to this petty immature crap? Borodog, Even though i havent read the previous thread mentioned here where you were... disrespected, and therefore wont/cant comment on the nature of what happened and certainly dont want to take away from any wrongdoing you may have suffered... I can still say that much much worse has been said between two people here on 2+2 and if you care this much... you probably need a break from 2+2. |
