Default Zenith TV troubleshooting question

I do realize that a TV is not a computer but I am hoping the smart people here can help me. The wider internet has not been very helpful. I found a 20" CRT Zenith today, model #SR2053S. Yes it is ghetto, yes I should just get a real TV. However imagined for a second that you wanted to make this POS change from the AUX channel on which it is stubbornly stuck. What would you do?

Assuming the TV has a button on a front panel, you could try and remove the panel and manually short the wires or circuit or whatever that button presses against.

Danger, messing with electricity might kill you.

First gotta get it outta the way:
Eh? There isn't a front control panel you can manually control it from?

Second:
Have you tried a remote (universal obviously)

Third:
Thats probably why it was tossed if you "found" it

Pressing the buttons on the front control panel makes the screen flicker like it does when the channel changes (so I don't think the contacts are faulty) but the channel doesn't actually change from AUX.

Yes; my universal remote works fine for power/volume but auto-switches to the cable box when I press the channel buttons.

Yeah, true. There was a note on it saying it worked fine but maybe they just meant "...for a 10yo CRT."

If the contacts aren't faulty, then whatever circuit board those contacts connect to is probably fried or there may be a short somewhere. No easy fixes, that's for sure.

I gave up too soon. All it took was pressing the TV/VCR button on the universal remote. This flipped the TV to CH 2, and this let me do a channel auto-search. This found CH 3, so cable works just fine now.
Sorry for bugging you guys, thanks for the help.

I still say it is fried.

Recommend completely taking apart the TV and manually resoldering all connections and fault checking with a multimeter.

May have to visit local dump for similar Zenith TV models for replacement capacitors, transistors, and various other parts.
