Should Carp start tommorow if ATL loses tonight and the lead stays at 1 1/2 games? I say no, but think the 'genius' will say yes.

Re: *** Official St Louis Cardinals to the 2006 World Series Thread **
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] OK, but in Houston, the only rivalry talked about is with the Cardinals [/ QUOTE ] rivalry as in yankees/sox, or rivalry as in "this is our main competitor"? although it's not as well-known outside the areas, cubs/cards is exactly like yankees/sox. [/ QUOTE ] Cards/Cubs is nothing like Yanks/Sox, at least not in recent years. Cards/Cubs is all about drunken, travelling Cubs fans trying to start stuff with a top eschelon organization with 9 world championships. These same jagbags travel to the Juicebox, as well. Just to start crap, even when down 6 runs. I think they travel everywhere. They are like the distant cousin that always shows up and nobody wants to see. The Astros/Cards is more of a friendly rivalry. 2004, they played 7 games in the NLCS and Cards prevailed. 2005, the Cards and Astos played 6 games in the NLCS and the Astros prevailed. This year, especially in these last couple weeks, the NLC has come down to these two teams yet again, with the Astros going 5-2 heads up down the stretch. Sure, the Cards have a lot more history than the Astros, and more rivals, but over the last few seasons, these teams have been a major thorn in eachothers' side, with several hard fought battles and classic games to go with. The Astros have just won in ATL, so it will come down to the end once again! I love baseball!!! |

How badly would the Astros have to be losing at the start of the Cardinal's game tomorrow to scratch Carpenter?

Re: *** Official St Louis Cardinals to the 2006 World Series Thread **
I would scratch Carpenter and save him for the 'if necessary' Monday anyway. Hell, I might even save him for the 'if necessary' Tuesday. I'm thinking about winning in the playoffs, not just getting there. It is huge to be able to toss Carpenter in game 1 of the NLDS, so that he can get 2 starts in the series.
