Default .10/.25 Stud/8 rolled up sixes lucky river

Absolute Poker - .10/.25 Stud/8

Blackwood's hand converter didn't work for some reason, so I had to do this by hand...I apologize in advance, but I cleaned it up pretty well.

I rarely submit the results of a hand and most of the hands I will be posting here will probably be when I feel I screwed up. However, I couldn't believe I almost lost this hand. I have seen this kind of chasing in LO8 for the low or a flush, but I thought it would be obvious to the other players to fold by 5th street (With the exception of seat 8). If I didn't boat up on the river, I would have lost this hand to Seat 8. Seeing his cards, I never would have put seat 8 on a low draw.

Anyway...comments and criticism welcome.

Looks like you tried to get as much money in as possible whenever you could. In Stud/8 you'll generally want to play your rolled up hands fast in order to get the most value for them and to make it as expensive as possible for lows and other draws to get there.

Seat 8's play is not at all unreasonable. He started with 3 suited babies and has the best low draw on 4th. He makes a 4-flush on 5th and is closing the action, which makes it an easy call. I think he should have been more aggressive on 6th though since the A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] is dead for you.

Agreed that the play by Seat 3 and 4 was pretty bad.

i dont know why you are surprised at the results. if the play was much better and .1/.25 I would be shocked.

Seat8 played fine.

Playing rolled up against a field is always dicey.

"Blackwood" didn't create the converter. He just hosts it because he's a sweet guy. greenage did all of the work. He did it for the most popular sites at the time, and I think he's moved on to other things. With many sites shutting out US players, there has been a significant decrease in demand for the converter in general, so I'm guessing Absolute will never be added.

I'm a teensy bit confused by the third-street action. Did the King raise on the first pass, or did he limp and then raise? If it's the latter, I might be a little concerned that 666 wasn't best, but only a little.

Looks like you pounded the pot at every available opportunity, which is a good way to play roll-ups. You might sometimes slow-play them for deception, but there are a couple of good reasons not to in this case:

1) Your board looks low, and people are apt to put you on that if they have weak highs. If the have weak low draws, they'll put you on a flush draw.
2) This is micro-limit. People will call. It's what they do.

Anyway, maybe seat 8 should have folded at some point, but I probably wouldn't have. He's got four to a decent low and four to a flush on fifth. Your board is a little scary, yes, but you've also bloated the pot, so he may feel tied on. In any case, I wouldn't expect much of anyone to fold a hand like this. You might keep this in mind when you're considering raising to knock other players out.

Seat 3 probably should have gotten away from his hand at some point, probably fourth. Again, I can kinda see how he might feel tied on, or maybe he just sucks at poker. The bottom line is that you're going to have to show down the best hand in order to win in this game.

Did seat 4 check and call or check and fold?
