Default 14 different games played in the big game???

I just watched Chip Reese's Cardplayer interview after the horse event. He said that in the big game they play the five HORSE games plus nine others, changing games every eight hands. Does anybody know what all of the games are that they play?

They actually do, from time to time.

The big game doesn't play 14 games each session. I havn't listened to Chip's interview, but he couldn't have said that. There are 14 games that are in some sort of rotation.

This is the list someone posted in the WSOP discussion thread, taking out of Daniel Negreanu's blog. The numbers next to the name is how many times the game was played during the 12 session sample. There are 13 games listed here.

Hold Em: 12
Stud: 12
Stud Hi-Lo 8-or-better: 12
Omaha Hi-Lo 8-or-better: 12
2-7 Triple Draw: 12
Stud Hi-Lo Regular: 11
Razz: 6
NL Hold em: 5
Pot Limit Omaha: 5
2-7 NL Single Draw: 5
Omaha Hi: 4
A-5 Triple Draw: 3
Chinese Poker: 1

The regulars in this professional poker game include legendary players such as Doyle Brunson , Chip Reese, Johnny Chan, Phil Ivey, Jennifer Harman , Sammy Farha, Minh Ly, David Grey, Eli Elezra, Gus Hansen, David Benyamine, Chau Giang, Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein , Abe Mosseri, Todd Brunson, and Lyle Berman. When poker tournament time rolls around, a few other players can be seen taking a shot at legendary status. Often times after a big score, or perhaps just when they happen to be in town, these players can be seen in the game. They include Allen Cunningham, Aaron Katz, Tim Phan, Freddie Deeb, Phil Hellmuth , Paul “Eskimo” Clark, Hasan Habib, Jeff Lisandro, Ted Forrest, Lee Salem, David Oppenheim, John Hennigan, MGM/Mirage President and C.E.O. Bobby Baldwin and a few others that have are an occasional drop in. So contrary to popular belief, the game isn’t played with the same 8 poker players passing the chips back and forth. Quite a few players have taken a stab at this game, but only a dozen or so can be considered regulars.

"The structure will vary. When there are no major tournaments in town, the game is mostly $2,000/$4,000 limit. Around tournament time, they get juicier, often $4,000/$8,000 limit. Tournaments also bring players like Lyle Berman, who prefer the No limit and Pot Limit games.

"The Pot Limit and No Limit games we play are capped,” says Lyle. “The most anyone can lose in a hand is $100,000. We play, perhaps, $1,000/$2,000 blinds with a pretty big ante. That changes the complexity of the game quite a lot. So when we play No Limit, it’s usually not anything like what you see in tournaments, where there’s a lot more play on the flop and on the turn.”

Almost without exception the game is always a mixed game. What this means, is that every eight hands, the game is changed to something else. The list of games that might be played include Limit Holdem, No-Limit Holdem, Omaha, Omaha 8/b, Pot Limit Omaha, Stud, Stud 8/b, High Low Regular, Razz, 2-7 Triple Draw, No Limit 2-7, and A-5 Triple Draw and on some days when the game starts ‘short’, Chinese. The list of games played changes drastically. Each player has certain games that they are more skilled at, and they try to make sure that those games are in the mix. For instance, if Sammy Farha is in the game than you could be certain that Pot Limit Omaha is being played. Or when Lyle Berman is playing, this is when you are most likely to see No Limit 2-7 or No Limit Holdem. David Grey is a Stud specialist, and likes to have as many of those games in the mix as possible.

Every once in a while, a celebrity such as Gabe Kaplan will show up and the game that is played will be limit Holdem. However this is rare, so if you see The Big Game being played, you can assume that it is a mixed game.

No Pinneapple?

I remember an interview with Greg Raymer where he was in the middle of playing a 4-game rotation including Badugi with a bunch of big-name players. It was "only" like 200-400 limit or something like that...so it wasn't the "big game" but it was a really unusually collection of games IIRC.
