Ender's Game is pretty great. Limesparks, could you possibly be more specific? I'm not familiar with any of those names you listed or their best works, but I'm interested. I can do some work on my own, but I need first names at least.

The whole series is really good. The 3rd and 4th books are a little hard to slog through but the "Shadow" books more than make up for it.

"Blink" by Malcolm Gladwell is a good non-fiction, about how quick decisions are made (good for a poker player to read)

"Good Omens" by Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett is fun, definitely a page turner

Dune + all it's sequels. you can skip the stuff Frank Herbert's son wrote, but the 6 novels that Frank did are some of the most interesting fiction ever.

I'll also second House of Leaves. ridiculously good writing.

and American Tabloid and The Cold Six Thousand, both by James Ellroy.

I liked most of Nelson Demille's books -- start with The Lion's Game. Mindless, but entertaining. His books are action novels.

For something a little different, try "Lamb: The Gospel according to Biff, Christ's Childhood Pal"

The Lenin Anthology by Robert Tucker, or The Other Path by Hernando de Soto.

disclaimer- horrible suggestions in BBV4L but great reads.

East of Eden...I'm in the middle of it, and it's great.

For light reading, you can't beat Harlan Coben.

Stephen King, esp. The Dark Tower series (the absolute best...plus that means if you love the first one, you have six more, that get better allthe time).

Watership Down....absolutely unbelivable.

Jack London: White Fang, Call of the Wild, Sea Wolf
