Default 600NL - I get myself into trouble with 2nd pair + nfd vs a donkey.

villain is 58/20/3.5~ (60 hands) and I just recently sat. I asked a couple 2p2ers and got very different opinions on my turn line.

Blinds: $3/$6
5 players
Converter

Stack sizes:
UTG: $594.00
CO: $2.299.85
Button: $707.00
SB: $559.65
Hero: $925.95

Pre-flop: (5 players) Hero is BB with Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
UTG folds, CO raises to $21, Button folds, SB calls, Hero raises to $96, CO folds, SB calls.

Flop: Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($213, 2 players)
SB checks, Hero checks.

Turn: 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ($213, 2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $120, SB raises all-in $457.65, Hero_______? ($337 to call)

not sure why you are betting this turn...as played, you're 100% beat. fold.

horrible turn bet if you dont have a plan for this scenario imo. i could see myself doing this against certain aggro donks but then im generally snap calling. without a better read on villain just check behind

I call, but if I thought there's no way I bet/fold this turn.

Bet/folding the turn is really ugly, so only bet if you're going to snap call the shove. So call.

Even your stats have him as pretty aggressive, so why DID you bet the turn if you don't know what you want to do here? I'm only asking in this way because your post asks whether to call or not, not about the original bet.

I like checking the turn. There are several good reasons to do so:

1. We are not missing out on value because we can VB the river if he checks again which he will often call lighter (I would not be betting river UI here).
2. Checking behind could induce a bluff on the river.
3. Checking behind on the turn will keep him in the pot with a low club he would otherwise fold which then may pay off a river bet.
4. We do not fear free cards.
5. We avoid getting check/raised.

The main reasons for betting are:

1. We can then shove the river if we hit a club. But in this situation I doubt we are getting paid off much because he would have to peel exactly JcJx/TcTx/QcJx/QxJc, and then still pay off a shove. And some times he will lead out the river and call a raise all-in anyway.
2. Induce a bluff ch/r, we can be happy to snap call. Based on you posting this, this doesn't seem to be the case.

So, IMO checking clearly dominates.

As played, I call. You have about 20% equity vs. the has you crushed range, and about 90% equity if he's bluffing.

You need 337/(790+337)=30% equity to call given the pot odds, so he must be bluffing at least X*90%=10%, X=11% of the time. Given his stats and your line, I'd call his shove as he'll probably be bluffing or doing something stupid at least this much.
