2008 WSOP schedule??

Does anyone know when the 2008 WSOP starts??? Or the dates of any of the events? The reason im anxious to know is that I turn 21 on July 19th and was curious if I would be able to play in any events next year.

The past couple of years, the full WSOP schedule has been released at the back end of December. Hopefully, it will be so again this year.

Day 1a is *not* scheduled for July 17th -- there is no schedule yet, as robracing pointed out. But you can give up on playing in 2008.

This past summer, the final table of the Main Event was on July 17th, and Jeffrey Pollack is on the record saying that the WSOP will be moved *earlier* in the calendar, toward it's traditional start in the spring.

A spring WSOP would allow ESPN to have their episodes ready to air in the summer, which they prefer because major sports don't have much going on in the summer. The WSOP episodes televised over the past month have been fighting for time and attention with Major League Baseball's pennant race and football season -- a losing battle.

My guess is that the WSOP will move up about a month (starting in early May, 2008), and then into April in 2009. I also think the length of the WSOP (just under 7 weeks) will stay the same. I'd love for it to be a little shorter, but I doubt it will happen.

We won't know anything for sure until Harrah's announces the schedule.
