100PL O8 Hand history, questions about my play...
I have not played much O8 (or Omaha) and I'm not very good at it yet. This is a hand I felt totally lost in at the table. Please help me out here
Seat 1: LP (20.00 in chips) Seat 2: CO (119.20 in chips) Seat 3:Button (98.00 in chips) Seat 4: SB (93.25 in chips) Seat 5: Hero (129.55 in chips) Seat 6: UTG (20.00 in chips) Seat 7: UTG+1 (71.90 in chips) Seat 8: UTG+2 (100.00 in chips) Seat 9: MP (80.15 in chips) Seat 10: MP+1 (69.25 in chips) SB: posts small blind $0.50 Hero: posts big blind $1 UTG+2: posts big blind $1 Dealt to Hero [ 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 3[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ] UTG+1: calls UTG+2: checks MP: folds MP+1: calls LP: calls CO: folds Echoholic: folds SB: calls Free flop? I'll take that... Hero: checks *** FLOP *** [ 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] J:dimond: ] SB: checks Intresting flop for me a 3, 5, 6 all give me a straight, and an Ace gives me the nut low. While nice, I dont want to make this a big pot unless I hit. so time to check/call a reasonable bet? Hero: checks UTG+1: bets $5.70 UTG+2: calls MP+1: folds LP: calls SB: folds Hero: calls I figured OOP calling is really the best move here, (Q1) Was that the right move? *** TURN *** [ 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] ] Well, my straight (and the flush draw I just picked up) are both badly tainted now... I also still dont have a low. Hero: checks UTG+1: checks UTG+2: bets $13.70 LP: folds Hero: calls I called, but I really think that I should have folded. (Q2) Is folding the correct move? UTG+1: folds *** RIVER *** [ 3:dimond: ] Hero: checks UTG+2: bets $26.70 I have the straight but it's on a paired board, my low is not the nut low. I folded. (Q3) Bad fold? (Q4) should I have lead out? Hero: folds UTG+2: returns uncalled bet $26.70 *** SHOW DOWN *** UTG+2: mucks UTG+2 wins high pot $53.40 There is no low hand Badly played? |

Re: 100PL O8 Hand history, questions about my play...
I am too lazy to calculate, but he potted the turn, right? Well, you are HU, OOP, and drawing to half the pot, turn is a fold in my book. Check/Calling the flop seems ok.

i think i c/c flop
c/f turn as played, c/c river. he needs a really tight fit to scoop us off the hand. and Cbone...the turn bet is nowhere near a PSB (there were a few callers of the flop PSB) |

Re: 100PL O8 Hand history, questions about my play...
The Turn is a fold for me. I would check & call the river. I think there are enough times here that he bet the flop with JJ, 77, J4, or A2 - that your chances are better than 50/50 you get half the pot.
Looks like he bet half the pot on the turn, and then half the pot on the river. I am not so sure he wanted you to call. |

Should fold the turn. Too easy to be almost totally dead here. But if you *are* going to call the turn, then why fold the river when one of your (presumed) outs arrives?

easy fold on the turn.. on river though, you are heads up?? I call, he has to have A2 or A3 and a boat to scoop you.

Re: 100PL O8 Hand history, questions about my play...
I would pretty much agree with what everybody is saying here...OOP it's not bad to float the flop, you have enough of a hand where it's not a bad play...The turn is interesting...He doesn't bet pot here when the 4 comes, so I really don't think he likes it...The question is, is this hand good enough to float yet again?? I can't see NOT jamming the pot here with JJ, 77 or even 44 or J4...I wouldn't want the low to get to see a river card "on the cheap"...I really have the nagging feeling that you may be able to float another one here since you picked up the flush draw...
Now 2 things with that above statement: 1. I am NOT advocating chasing with a 3-high flush, easiest way to go broke in this game... 2. Making the call on the turn is EXTREMELY read/bet dependent...Have you seen this guy bet the nuts strong or does he try to massage the pot and feign weakness? That is something that you have to know before floating the turn... This is a very tricky spot on the turn and I think 50% of the time I would call and 50% of the time I would fold... But as played you have to call the river...You completed your straight, you have the 3rd low...I think we might be chasing monsters in the closet if we think we are beat for both halfs...And the ONLY reason we call the river here is because we are heads up...3 way action I would not recommend calling unless you want to be diggin into the ol' e-wallet for more funds... |

Re: 100PL O8 Hand history, questions about my play...
Thanks for the help everyone...
I'm sure I'll be posting more hands, and if I find another player like last night that will re-reraise all in with QQA9 on a 8J3 flop I'll make money even without improving my skill |
