yea there is no way you should give him half the pot....here is something you could say to counter them if you feel the need to defend yourself (granted its not really that significant but to alot of live donks they wont disagree with you because they pride themselves on reads and dont want it to look like they dont want information, even though most barely know what to do with it)

...anyway just tell them it is not fair for him to get half of the pot when he didnt allow the table any information of what he had and how he played it while you had to show your cards and give people insight into how you played the hand

the only time i would give half the pot back is if it jeopardized my chances of being invited back...if this was a public casino then your fine

That is not exactly what the rule in Robert's (and most rule books) means. You are still supposed to show your hand, but if you are newish to the game and think stating "play the board" is enough you still get your fair share of the pot.

I don't think you were wrong, but you asked if anyone would have given him half the pot, and I would have.

I try to live by "do unto others...." (I'm not religious at all.) I also believe in "what goes around...."
