Default Protecting hand in small pots...

Just a quick question...
there is an example in SSHL about protecting hand, where 6 players limp in we are in SB with Q [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]7 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

The flop is Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
and we check raise after button who bets...clear case in large pot...

And now for my question...what would be the right play if the pot were to be tiny ...for example only 2 limpers and we( MP, SB & BB)?

Would we still go for check raise, would we lead out or (worst) cool down with TPWK OOP?

If the pot is shorthanded I'd just lead.

yes the chances of your hand being best are much higher when you have top pair vs 2 opponents, regardless of your kicker. make someone pay to hit their ace on the turn.

Unless we have a very specific read saying that button will bet if checked to, we need to lead this flop. Our hand is very likely best and we need to give em a chance to call.

However, I think that getting value, not protecting, is the key feature of betting. Yes, betting accomplishes both (here), but I believe that more profit in lhe comes from getting max value rather than pushing out weaker draws. I don't know if that made any sense...

BTW, cooling down here is indeed (worst).
