The worst thing I\'ve ever seen a dealer do
And to me, no less. Well, at least I can't think of a worse thing off-hand.
The hand: 20-40 HE (at Casino Arizona). BB has the '1/2 kill' and posts $30. UTG, (who is one of the best dealers in the casino and a decent player) raises and I'm directly on his left and make it 3 bets w/ K-K. Folded around to the BB and he calls 2 cold. The dealer and the BB are both Asians and I guess they're friends because the dealer exclaims: 'WHAT? Are you crazy calling 2 raises from these guys? They are both good players!' Whoa, omg. I try to keep a low profile and just said, as jokingly as I could, 'Lessons are on Tuesday.' I wanted the action, but, of course, the dealer was incredibly out of line. I didn't make a big scene there because I don't want the dealer (who I like) to get in big trouble, don't want the other players to even know that I think about these things and also that I plan on speaking to him in private and to the manager who runs the dealer meetings w/o naming the dealer. I'm posting this as a bit of a rant, because it is an upsetting situation, but also to get other's opinions of how I might have handled the situation in a better way. |

I've seen all kinds of dealer mistakes, bad attitudes, watching the games on TV instead of paying attention to the game, pushing the pot to the wrong player and everything else under the Sun but telling a player that he's nuts to give action to 2 particular players? I can't think of anything worse than that. If others have actually seen worse I'd love to hear it although I suppose if a dealer gets up out of the box and punches a player I guess that would be worse and has probably happened somewhere. |

howard, is that honestly the worst thing you have seen at CA?
I can think of numerous times where dealers made WAY bigger mistakes than that. |

I burn and turn and pitch the stub into the muck. Then look and only see four cards on the board (no river). |

[/ QUOTE ] Oh, I've seen all sorts of technical mistakes and I suppose the ones that change the outcome of a hand are worse so in that sense you're right. But we all make these sorts of mistakes and they are common enough that we understand them. But to tell a player, during a hand, as he's putting in chips, that he's wrong to do it is out of the ordinary. So, sure, I've seen what might be called worse but also more understandable. |

[ QUOTE ] The worst thing I've ever seen a dealer do [/ QUOTE ] Seriously? Obviously he should stfu and deal but this isn't all that bad considering the [censored] you see. [/ QUOTE ] One of the main reasons this one is bad is that it shows that the dealer simply doesn't understand or care about protection of the game and protection of a player's action. Most of the other things we see are mistakes of some sort. We all make mistakes and mistakes can be forgiven. This simply isn't a mistake. ~ Rick |
