Default First Hand Post - JJ River Value Bet

Hi - first hand post (4th post after fairly disastrous contributions earlier today. apologies - i'll act on feedback for future contributions )

Villains 3rd hand and his 3rd raise PF so feel OK to PF 3 bet;

0.25/0.50 Hold'em (8 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

Preflop: Hero is MP2 with Q, A.
UTG raises, folds, Hero 3-bets, 4 folds, UTG (Villain) calls.

Flop: (7.40 SB) J, 9, 4
Villain bets, Hero calls. (2 players)

-- Think this is an OK peel w/ 2 overcards on the flop. Wrong?

Turn: (4.70 BB) 2
Villain checks, Hero checks. (2 players)
-- should I have bet with what may be the best hand and if not at least it's a decent semibluff? Or should I just plan on calling down and looking him up?

River: (4.70 BB) 5 (2 players)
Villain bets, Hero ???.

Final Pot: 4.70 BB

I would play the first 3 streets the same. His line is weird so I'd look him up on the river.

I would raise the flop. This is a strong draw, and it's possible to get a free card on turn.

As played, I bet the turn

fwiw, folding preflop is just fine. He is still basically unknown, and could have just been picking up good hands lately--i.e. we haven't seen what he raises with yet. You could also fold the river because you are hoping for a weaker A here or KQ, which I don't think we see that much. A mid-pair is most likely.

I like preflop.

I would raise the flop for value.

As played to the turn, I would bet the turn for value.

As played to the river, call because you beat most of his missed flushes.

I raise the flop hoping for a freecard, I also call river because I'm confused and I think the meta of that call has a bit of value.

i raise this pot on the flop. we get added value and there is a chance of a free one. i dont think he has us beat on this flop but the river bet is wierd. i might fold this river but i think given the info with him we might have to call

If you are still here to read this OP, I think this is very good.

I would probably have just called the flop bet, but after your opponents turn check, I would have bet.

There was a good chance that you then had the best hand, and you also had a strong flush draw.
