Theoretically........... "Resorts has automatic shufflers, so many more hands/hour." [/ QUOTE ] Yes,,,,this would be true if the dealers were worth a sh*t, ok, some are ok but there is this heavy set chick that I swear only deals about 8 hands per hour, when dealers pool there is no incentitive to get more hands in. BTW no free stuff but you can earn points on the resorts card. The rake will kill you on anything less than 10-20. They play with a kill, and the 20-40/kill is the best limit poker game in the midwest IMO |

I've been a moderate winner at 10/20 with generally ABC poker (mostly out of Miller's book). Would that still work in the 20/40 game? |

Re: Poker Rooms Near Chicago
Typical players...you find them all over, not just Resorts. Not one of them will ever "fess-up", that the joint knows more about the games than the players. That's why someone would write:

Re: Poker Rooms Near Chicago
I only played the Resorts 20/40 once, but its definately more TAGgy than the 10/20. I'm not saying tough, but certainly tougher. There was quite a bit more of 3 bet isolation plays, free card plays, bluff raises, etc. There was only one complete fish in the game I played. About an average of 3-4 to the flop. If you are a moderate winner in the 10/20 there, I would guess you would break even at 20/40.

Re: Poker Rooms Near Chicago
2 trips ago a winning higher limit player at Resorts sat at my 10/20 table and was talking to a friend of his who is a regular at 10/20. He kept saying how much tougher the 20/40 is than the 10/20. He said you really have to play good and better have more than $15,000 in your bankroll before you make the jump & you will lose your a couple grand your first few sessions. He also commented on how many of the older regulars in the game will really come after new players to their game.
I've never played higher than 10/20 and won't be ready to make the jump in levels for a while. Can anybody comment on his assesment? |

[/ QUOTE ] I agree with your assesment, and think I know the dealer you're talking about, she is horrid. She can also be very bitchy at times. Slow dealers without a shuffle machine can be even worse however. There is one older delaer at Potawatomi who I just go ahead and get a meal button every time he sits in the box. If I'm late in a long session, he's guaranteed to put me asleep. I should've mentioned, Resorts will also deal more hands per hour due to a lot fewer fills than Potawatomi. |

Re: Poker Rooms Near Chicago
For those in Chicago -- I'm going out to Chicago for almost a week towards the end of this month, staying at a hotel near O'Hare -- any local casino worth a cab ride?

Re: Poker Rooms Near Chicago
Barron, nothing a cab ride away. If you rent a car, try Trump (which is now called Majestic Star?)

Re: Poker Rooms Near Chicago
Trump is a long ride from O'Hare though. Renting a car would be much cheaper than a cab ride.
