I'd like to see an NBA final game with an all white starting five for both teams.

James,

Why are you so angry? This is such a clear example of the media CREATING news. That's what's pathetic.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think it's an interesting sidenote but obv the media is going to have a field day and blather about it endlessly.

In a way I think too much coverage is insulting, especially if you're black.

Making this out to be such an amazing story almost implies that there is some reason we should be shocked or amazed that black coaches could make it to the big game, other than the simple fact that there are fewer black coaches than white coaches.

Take that away (because it's essentially just variance... if there are black coaches in the NFL, one of them was bound to reach the SB at some point), and the only reason to be surprised is if you think black people make inferior coaches because of their race.

So if I were black, I'd think, "hey, that's nice that those two guys are doing so well, but WTF is with the media making it out to practically be a miracle?"

You're all racist because you can't see what a huge win this is for the colored community. If there were two white coaches in the super bowl none of you would even be posting in this thread.

Remember, one of them will be the first black coach to lose a Super Bowl.

Dungy was already looking a little tired of it after the game when they were going on and on about it. I really like both these coaches, and hope this nonsense blows over quickly for their sake.

There was an awesome quote on page 2 of ESPN that said "2 weeks from now black coaches will only be .500 in the SB, and .500 just doesn't cut it in today's NFL"

it was very sarcastic obviously but funny

that said I'm a Tampa Bay Fan (that's right, I admit it) so it's nice to see both Lovie Smith and Tony Dungy doing well, regardless of race

An NFL head coach is hired to get their team to the Super Bowl.

So Dungy and Smith, did what they were hired to do.

Im confused, is that why this is news?

I don't know how you guys can stand watching sports news. It's 100% filler. The best way to protest is to change the channel and deny them your sliver of the ratings pie.

That would be a good thread, name the top media-contrived/fueled stories of the last few years
