20/40 ATs (story)

I was going to post this in BBV but I wanted to post it here, as this is about the only forum I post in and I read it everyday. Has anyone else had a similar experience??

20/40 live
Hero is MP2 w A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
[hero has raised and won the last two hands.. So will be called by looser than usual]

2 folds, 1 call, 1 fold, Hero raises, folded to BB who calls, limper callls

Flop [3] 6SB K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
checked to Hero who bets, BB raises, limper folds, Hero 3bets, BB calls
[at first I think I have a flush draw and straight draw, then in a millisecond I realise I have the straight, this thought process occurs before BB even checks though]

Turn [2] 6BB J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]
check, Hero bets, call
[I'm hoping to get raised so I can 3bet here, but no luck. All hero can think about is value betting this river]

River [2] 8BB K [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]
BB checks...

[Hero puts his chips down as if to bet, they touch the felt. Then Hero sees the double paired board, and attempt to pull the chips back. Hero believed himself to have a flush at this point. One of the other players says "the bet stands". Dealer has lost control, but seems to concur.

Hero bets...

BB has now sensed Hero's mistake and raises, Hero flashes back to a situation two weeks ago when he had a straight outdrawn on a four flush board, and wanted to check through the river but due to a dealer error was given the option of calling [dealer 'thought' a player checked when he didn't] In this occurance hero threw his cards in disgust. So in this occurance it felt as if the situation was replaying so Hero opened his cards stared at them then threw them in disgust into the muck.

Hero folds...

Someone now states that I had a royal flush, Hero gets that sick feeling upon realisation, even sicker than when you make a really bad fold, I estimated it as at least three times as bad. Hero states "but I opened my cards" replied to by "You didn't call", which Hero thought was fair enough.

BB shows K [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 4 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] to defeat Hero's royal flush.

Oh well, that won't happen EVER again, I was told later that everyone makes board misreads from time to time, too bad mine was a royal and it was opened...

just be glad you did it at 20/40 and not 100/200 like i did :P

Sucks, man -- but I know how it feels. Wasn't a royal, but it was the nuts in a huge 20/40 pot. I haven't felt that nauseated in a casino since.

That's brutal. Each extra piece to twist the knife a little more: folding the nuts, it was a royal, opening it. Yuck.

i would be sick for the rest of the night. unless you went on to run extremely well that would be in my head for the remainder of the session.

I've seen similar hands twice in 10-20. They werent' mucked, but funny none the less.

First is I flop a set of 7's on a Ts 9s 7d flop. Old man in BB ch/c's. Turn brick ch/c. River is 7s. Old man leads, I raise, he calls. I roll quads, he turns his cards up and joins everyone else saying "nh". Dealer pushes his 8s6s str fl the pot. Had no idea he flopped a str and thought he just made a fl.

Other I saw is flop of Ah Kh Th. An old man bets and gets raised. He ch/c's a brick turn, ch's brick river and as he calls he rolls the Qh Jh and says "I got a str. Do you have the fl".

Old men. Live poker. Good times.

hero could have avoided all the grief by not displaying his hand to show everybody how brilliant a laydown he was making. ironic kinda.

About two hours later I made a straight flush with
J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] !! I didn't fold this one! I won 19 bets in my 12 hours, so I guess the session was ok, I suppose. At least I can say that I can fold a straight flush and still win... lol. Yeah i still feel a little sick, nothing really like torching $500 is there?

btw, thanks for the condolences guys, actually makes me feel a little better. Pete, 100/200? Really?? Urrg.
