This is standard, no? If you can't mentally handle the variance, PLO isn't for you.

Yeah, that too. If you didn't try to blow out the pot on the flop, it is a bit your fault.

Although -- the guy really wasn't going anywhere. You were set against set w/ a redraw. It happens.

Every time you sit down at a table, you need to be prepared to lose your buyin. By not fearing the loss, playing correctly is less of a problem (that doesn't mean you played it correctly =) )

i know u need to have a high tolerance for variance when playing omaha. its just pretty frustrating when u have built up your stack to like 3 buy-ins, flop top set and run into a monster draw that hits on the river to lose it all. happened quite often to me in the last days, so i m losing money actually. maybe i ran too hot in the beginning (more than 50 ptbb/100 in the first 2k hands ) so i have to pay for that now.

This type of bad beat post and all the stuff about auto-pushing or calling with mediocre aces really belongs in the Low Content Thread each month.

Thanks,

One does not has to play PLO when there's nl holdem, and it's far more popular, and most will find good games from somewhere. PLO generally means bigger pots but also smaller edges (meaning huge fluctuations, long run being far away), or at full ring games the edges may not even be there, but shorthanded where the general feel is much like at limit holdem the edges are there, and it's the only type of PLO that I would recommend.
