This is what I've been wanting to ask. Can't we create off-shore bank accounts and simply transfer the money there instead? Be they Canadian/Swiss/etc. It may take a little longer, but at least we won't have to worry about losing everything.

I'll just take my roll and go play at Hollywood Park.

We'll always be able to play online poker. If a time comes when we can't, we'll probably have much more worrisome things to deal with.

Problem is will a casual player go through the trouble of doing this? Most likely no.

If in 270 days the regulations they come up with seriously restrict how one funds a poker account we'll be left with degenerates and professionals from the United States. It won't be the end of online poker, and ya there will be plenty of people who will be able to grind out $100/hr or more but it definitely won't be the same.

Ok I have a question regarding cashing out. I have a pretty decent sum of cash on Ultimate Bet but never made a deposit and therefore dont go through neteller or any similar sites, i just withdraw in the form of E-checks. If I wait, is there ever going to be a time when the checks that I receive from ultimate bet won't be accepted at my bank?

[/ QUOTE ]

Even if that happens I'm almost certain you'll still have the option of opening an account online with a Canadian bank, having the funds sent there, and then tranfered to your U.S. bank.

[/ QUOTE ]

yes to be able to do this.

In the old days, a person could just mail a check to a sportsbook site, and they would mail you checks upon request. Electronic transfers made it more convenient for them but more expensive for us in fees.

Snail mail. What a concept.

I cashed out last week. I left some money in on a gamble that the poker sites have too much to lose to not find a way. Starting over, hoping I can cashout.

I won't make a withdrawal because of the legislation. But I will make my monthly withdrawal on the 1st of the month like I customarily do.

Default Poll Update (10:30 pacific time) 9/30/06

Wow!

No is at 73%. 162 votes.
Yes is at 27%. 59 votes.

I thought it would be 90% for yes by now. "Panicky" is not a word that describes the posters here.

I don't even play online poker anymore, and I see the idea that this passed in the first place as something much more worrisome than the ability to actually do it.

I'm not from USA, but I voted both to see the results, and I suppose I'm not the only one. (Didn't read far enough to see that last message) I would suggest to select the option for seeing the results only.
