Seriously WTF, is this a leak?
I have lost so much money in the past 3 months pushing all in with overset draws that I'm starting to wonder if I have a serious leak in my game.
I know it's player and situation dependent, but should I be folding to flop raises on drawy boards with aa kk and qq? I don't know if this is just the worst run of cards I've seen or if it's a serious leak in my game. I've really been trying to play a lot more solid recently meaning a bit tighter and more aggressive. But if I start folding to any bit of heat on drawy flops or even dry flops I feel like I'm going to get run over at 5/10 NL and up. WTF?!?!?! Chris |

Re: Seriously WTF, is this a leak?
I guess he means by overset draw that he has an overpair and knows in order to win the hand, he needs a set( 2outer style) and is up against a set or 2 pair on flop. In which case, the logic is completely off... you shoudlnt stay around in these hands if you know this and consider it an overset draw. 2 outs= NO GOOD

Re: Seriously WTF, is this a leak?
so the answer to the question is yes, it is a leak. If you are able to make the read that you are on the overset draw, try to lay it down next time

Re: Seriously WTF, is this a leak?
Thanks for the level guys. This is a serious theory question though. Should I be looking to avoid these spots completely? Should I be calling more flop raises and checkraises and reevaluating the turn if I don't improve?
I'm not eager to get all my chips in with one pair even if it's an overpair but in an aggressive game I feel like folding an overpair to any raise is also not a good strategy. Looking for general thinking about facing heat with overpairs I suppose. Chris |

Re: Seriously WTF, is this a leak?
I can do that but we've all been there. Effective 1k stacks. We raise in MP or cutoff with black aces small blind calls. Flop comes q56 two hearts, we cbet and get check raised and then.....
Many players at 5/10 and up will make this play with hands I beat, even air. Flat calling seems bad against very aggressive players given that they will almost always bet the turn and I won't like many cards that will come. Raising commits us to getting stacked by sets. Folding seems wrong as well. This seems to be the only way I get stacked so I guess I've answered my own question. It must be a serious leak. Chris |
