Whats the word with Vista?

[/ QUOTE ]

You can get the deal either way (XP or Vista).

Vista - some programs don't run on it yet. Also you probably need 2 GB RAM to run it properly. At least that is what I keep reading on other (more technical) message boards.

So if you want to keep your cost down while having the best performing machine that you can, I would go with XP with this deal.

** Again, not a computer know-it-all but where I go to learn about these things this is the prevailing opinion, even when the board was discussing this exact deal.

Thanks.

Inspiron 1501

Genuine Windows® XP Home
Size: 60GB8 SATA Hard Drive (5400RPM)
512MB9 DDR2 SDRAM 533MHZ, 1 DIMM

Starting Price $499

That's the cheapest I see on the dell.com website. I just dont see how they could sell a laptop with the original specifications stated at such a low price of 440$. If someone does know where I could purchase it at that price, i'd luv a pm.

Best Buy has a nice Sony Laptop with 1GB of memory for like 300.

Does anyone know, can i go buy this now, and go to the store in a week or two show them the ad and get them to price match it?

This year I will be traveling, but every year I only have one thing I say on black friday: Thank God it's deer season!!!

I'm much rather be out in the woods than fighting crowds at any of those stores.

Any thoughts on this deal (if it's available)? Just judging from the eBay sales, it looks like it could be a fairly profitable item to turn around and sell.
