Default Bally\'s or Harrah\'s?

Going to Vegas with my g/f at the end of April for 5 nights, and we're picking between 2 hotels, Bally's and Harrah's.

We're both mid-20's, not hardcore partiers or anything - we're just looking for a decent hotel that's got a decent location. I'm gonna donk it up at some low-limits, and she's gonna play seriously at the same limits

We're not interested much in the casino/poker room itself - but obviously the nicer the better. It's primarily the room itself that we are concerned about (i.e. cleanliness, friendliness, how nice the room is, etc.).

If anyone has some insight into these places that would be awesome.

(I've searched, and there isn't much on either of these places - and I've also looked at cheapovegas.com and allvegaspoker.com)

Bally's.

It's adjacent to Paris, which rocks, and it's a nice place with fine rooms (I've been in one but never slept there) and a great location.

I stay at Paris all the time, while I don't stay at Bally's I go through there all the time.

The deciding factor for me is Breakfast, and Paris has the best breakfast buffet in Vegas. After that you can go across the street to Bellagio, next door to Aladdin, or you can stay and play at Paris (new room/area, at which I have not played, but heard it is sucky for atmosphere but big on fish).

I concur with the vote for Bally's having stayed at both. The rooms are nicer at Bally's and the amenities were nicer (pool, restaurants, spa, etc.) at Bally's, IMO. I find the Casino at Bally's to be a little on the bland side, but as was pointed out, you can walk right over to Paris for gambling. (I have not been to the poker room at either Paris or Bally's.) Generally, I would say Bally's is superior, but if there is a big price differntial, it could be a tough choice. (I stay at Harrah's because they give me a free room and prefer that casino and location.)

to be honest, Bally's is cheaper than Harrah's - that's why I was curious

I stay at Harrahs because of the free rooms. I have 4 free nights the last weekend of April 28th thru May 2nd for a bachelor party. I like the poker room for their 1/2 NL only had 1 losing session out of 10. Some dont like the "fish bowl" feeling they get while playing but I dont mind. Never been to Bally's for poker but it is right near Caesars and Bellagio. Harrahs is near too about a 10 minute walk, I like the Wynn and its only about 15 minutes by foot from Harrahs. Mirage another great place is directly across the street. Either choice is a good one.

Location of both is great. Harrahs is closer to Mirage, Ballys is closer to Bellagio.

I have never stayed at Ballys, but my friend swears it is nice. North tower is supposed to be better. South Tower faces the Bellagio fountains, but is supposed to be worn.

Harrahs is ok, but over priced. Rooms are clean enough...nothing fancy, but only someone overly picky could be upset with the cleanliness. Carnivale tower is supposed to be nicest...I have stayed there 3 times and only in the Carnivale tower. However, I did find the rooms to be a bit noisy. Also, don't touch the items in the mini bar unless you intend to consume them. They are triggered to payment by a weight system.

I am staying at Ballys on March 24-27. I would take advantage of their discount on the internet which will take 25% off any lower price you find online. It requires some jumping through hoops, but saved me over $80.
