Default 2007 AFC Asian Cup

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2007_AFC_Asian_Cup

Started earlier today with an entertaining (until later in 2nd half when both teams just said "[censored] it") match between Thailand and Iraq (Younes Mahmoud whaat). Iraq outplayed Thailand in the first half and managed a nice headed goal off a free kick to level it 1-1 (I missed the first 10 min. I think Thailand went up 1-0 on a penalty kick), but the Thai keeper made a couple of nice saves including one off a sweet bicycle kick from one of the Iraqi dudes to keep it level. Then the Thais pwned the 2nd half of the match, but couldn't get the winning goal.

This is the first year Australia will be in the tournament and their first match is early tomorrow morning against Oman, which should be an easy 3 points. It'll be interesting to see how deep the Aussies go in this tournament. Vietnam and UAE play later in the day.

Not sure who the favorites are this time around, but Japan and Saudi Arabia have won the last six between them so I assume the Saudis are up there as well.

OK, I checked the odds at betfair. Aussies are the favs at 1.74-1, Japan at 3-1, Iran at 4-1, South Korea 6-1, Saudi Arabia 9-1. The rest are 20-1 or more.
