Default MLB draft thread

just a heads up in case anyone that cared didn't know/forgot that it's on espn2 live right now. Sadly, Steve Phillips is involved.

I'm watching. So surreal to see Bud up there saying "with the 2nd pick, the Kansas City Royals select..."

Can't wait to see how the M's blow it with the 11th pick!

Seems like they are forcing every team to take the full 5 minutes for TV purposes.

The MLB draft sucks. There's no actual strategy involved like there is in NFL drafts. There will be little, if any trading and all the GMs do is draft off of some sheet of ranked players. They all go BAP. Boooooorrrrriiiiinnnnnngggggg...

Matt Weiters!

:Gushes:

The O's made a big move, there still is a long way to go but this is evidence of the enormous organizational shift that began with Joe Jordan's first draft 3 years ago. The seeds have been sown.

Now if only that hadn't given all that money to gibbons, mora, huff, payton and those crappy relievers.

2009, here we come.

I consider myself a big baseball fan, and dont care at all about this. None of these guys will make an impact next year, so who cares really? Not as cool as the NFL or NBA at all.

Are you gonna stop being a self-professed "big baseball fan" after next season?

BTW, got Lincecum? (an exception to be sure, but he *has* made a huge impact the year after his draft)

IMO a large part of being a big baseball fan is what's coming through the pipeline (especially if you are a fan of a team whose ML talent is a little thin, like me).

There's no trading because it's not allowed.
