Last year, they refunded us that amount on the day of the tournament.

Ya I typed out a reply to this and then deleted it. Not sure how I feel about that. Seems a bit unfair to the people who paid the extra 10% to their sat buy-ins, they also do not have to repay this and who is to say what 'that amount' really is?

Ya its a nice move on their part. But whats the point of adding that in in the first place? Just extra spending money for people who likely spent the $3k before they got to Australia?

I assume they do it the way they do it to allow leeway for fluctuating travel costs, currency adjustments and whatever. As long as they eventually give 18K in value to the people who won, and the Aussie package is advertised clearly as an 18K package, I don't think they are doing anything wrong.

The hotel is VERY nice, and I suspect it costs more than $200 a night. The airfare should be less than your estimate if it is coach, but a LOT more for business or first class. Or, instead of listening to my guesses, somebody can go to the hotel's website and to Orbitz or some such and price things out in detail. ;-)

As for the value of the rest, I have no idea.
