Default Russia update: Murder, show trials, and heroism

A couple updates on the Putin dictatorship:
link: A reminder that today is the anniversary of the murder of journalist Anna Politkovskaya, presumably for her criticism of the Putin government. Politkovskaya was apparently the 13th journalist assassinated in Russia in the last 7 years. The Russian government announced that it had arrested 10 people who killed Politkovskaya as part of a plot to discredit Putin (lol). Here's waiting for 10 strikingly similar confessions.

part 1 and part 2: About how world-class chess player Gary Kasparov has become the leader of the opposition to the Putin regime. I saw this a couple weeks ago and was really inspired by his courage and eloquence. Given that he's rich and famous already, he deserves a lot of respect for taking on the government, particularly when his chances of short-term success are so bleak.

EDIT: Oops, meant this for politics. If a mod could ship it in that direction, I'd appreciate it.
