Villian is adz, NL cash player. Is the first preflop call ok? If he had made a real raise I would have folded, but I'm not sure if that is the right way to look at things.

I know in cash if someone will call a ton OOP for 3 bets but fold for 4, I would def be raising smaller. I'm not really sure if the logic applies here or not.

BB is unknown to me. You guys like the call? Not sure how often unknown is squeezing here.

I think preflop is kind of a leak, though i always call in the BB here (that might be bad? idk)

I mean he cant be squeezing here. Ur getting like 1.5-1? Meh i fold.

first call is fine, second i think i want AT just because 88-TT is a huge part of his range and calling off 15xbb with A8 vs 99 is no fun.

lol I love going call/call preflop in a tourney, feeling like a total donk, and doubling up.

First call is fine from the SB but I don't like the second one. Isolated and OOP for 1/4 of my stack with A[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] isn't thrilling.

Heck, I probably like shoving better than calling.

From the BB i think it would be a super easy PF call, so from the sb I guess it has to be relatively close.

My default would be too fold, but was playing less tables than usual so figured might be ok spot to loosen up. Also I was in the same room as Thayer so I assumed I would river the nuts.

I definitely fold the first time around in the SB and also fold the 2nd one. What are you going to do with A8s out of position against an early-ish position raiser? If you were in the BB different story of course, calling there is fine

Dont think it works like that. Cmon in one spot you are getting 3-1 and in one you are getting 2-1 with the small possibility that someone reraises etc. The difference between 3-1 odds and 2-1 odds isn't that close IMO.

I can give many examples of situations in poker where it's an easy call getting 3-1 and a clear fold getting 2-1.
