Default Bringing money from US to Canada for gambling

I'm flying to Canada and want to play some poker while there, specifically 5-5PL (heard of a casino tht spreads this.) I'm planning on bringing ~7 or 8 buyins and was wondering the best way to do this, as well as any tax info. Should I just bring cash? Travelers checks? And will I have to fill out tax forms there if I cash out >10K for example? Thanks for any input

So you're bringing what, $4Kish? I brought around $5K cash to Canada once and declared it. No problems. I don't know about tax forms on cashouts. I didn't end up playing very big.

The only thing I know is that if you bring $10 000 across the US and Canada border you have to declare it. But I don't know the exact details, just that I'm often asked that question when I cross (and there's lots of signs).

If you bring back more than 10k there is a special form that you have to fill out declaring that. However, I can't remember the name of that form. If you have cargo shorts the cash should fit fine in there

Why not simply contact the casino and see if they have an ability for you to wire money to them and place it on deposit? That way you avoid this whole mess entirely and can simply withdraw it from the cashier cage once you arrive.

When you head back, just take a check. Your bank will charge you a foreign currency conversion fee, but their exchange rates should be favorable. You can check into it before you leave.

With technology the way it is today there's no reason you should be carrying large amounts of cash on you ever. There's got to be a better alternative.
