In the end I decided to just edit it and not delete it, because I feel like people who are members of the BBV community should be able to come to the community for support; it just shouldn't be financial. If people want to donate given that information from his post that is fine, but it should be done through PM and not in the OP. That's why I deleted the contact info and the stuff about begging but not the actual text of the post.

Gild, imo, you are handling the situation well...

Just to add info...

1. I believe that what he posted is accurate, though I have no proof

2. I am aware that he found some investors for a project he was working on, and that he refunded those investors their money, based on the fact that he would not have the time to proceed with the project due to his current situation.

I asked him for proof and his response was

"Zach,

No problem. T-God has also requested this info, and Sarah is going to be running to her parents house either today or tomorrow to get some documentation of the illness.

Vig "

If he gets the proof I have no problem with people starting threads about donations, even if this is a bit hypocritical of my own policies.

I think an exception can be made here because he has shown himself to be a really solid and honest poster. And I would like to think if I was in a dire situation like this I could come to 2p2 for help (not necessarily the way he did it, though) and I would be able to count on people.

I don't know...I just think this sets a bad precedent for real scammers etc. It's a tough situation because it's cold hearted to edit out the details...anyways here's the new thread which is much more up front about asking for money.

I approved that thread before he posted it. I told him he could post an official thread if he had proof and the more proof the better. It is now 100% clear that this guy is telling the truth. If you have an issue with it now take it up with Mat.

I don't mind telling him to stop if the reds want me to stop, bbv have made good gestures already. He is providing tons of entertainment value in bbv, regardless.

He got a lot of love in MTTc when he made a run in the Million this Sunday and is now in EVERY sweat thread saying congrats and asking me to set up some tournaments in the Stars rotation for a week and then he posted 2 private tournaments today, I dont know how I feel about it all, but it seems to be setting a weird precedent and I am unsure about how legit it all is. He has been begging very hard now because he likely has gotten a taste of some donations and has realized he can get a good deal of money from posters here, whether the story is real or not.
