Re: vigorish\'s post
Don't like it because you think he's scamming or because of the precident it sets?

I think it could be a scam, I also thinks it sets a bad precedent.

I don't know. If anyone wants to push him for proof, I would approve. I would also be ok with the whole thing being squelched.

Re: vigorish\'s post
Kyros post finally said it:
OK, this may be completely inappropriate but whatever. I hope everything turns out well. It sounds like a terrible situation and I truly hope you'll get the help you need. With that said, I don't understand why someone who is in need of financial aid from unknown forum members is making 4 figure monetary bets with people they don't even know. |

[ QUOTE ]
I think it could be a scam, I also thinks it sets a bad precedent. [/ QUOTE ] Dated Jan 19. Nick B is a prophet... Anyway, I guess BBV learned its lesson on this one. An untrustworthy bastard used his wife's cancer to get donations to his poker account -- likely intending to use them to help her with medical bills at first -- and then when things went sour in their relationship (or this was the cause of things going sour) he gambled it all away playing poker (and badly). He didn't really do anything officially illegal I don't think -- I mean the donators acted on good faith that turned out to be false -- and Vig quickly became one of the most repulsive creatures to ever walk the earth in my opinion (since I'm pretty sensitive about mothers with cancer). God, imagine if my dad had gambled away my mom's medical bill money! Jesus. Anyway, so what next? I think there's not much we can do to get the money back from Vig to the original donators; it's gone and it's unlikely he's good enough to win it back. So IP-ban Vig, and learn from history. Put the mess behind us as this villain becomes part of BBV lore. |

Like I said earlier, I could be persuaded to see if the NYPD would do anything about it... |

Re: vigorish\'s post
In a case like this, it would sound much more legit had Vig asked that the donations be sent to the treatment facility to pay the bill of Sarah X directly.
I know that had I needed the money to pay my mastectomy/chemo bills, I would have said that I was getting treatment at Virginia Piper Cancer Center, P.O. Box, Scottsdale, AZ, etc, and instructed donations to be made for the account of Felicia Lee Dyer. I would not have asked anyone to transfer money directly to me on Stars, or send it to my house, Neteller account, etc. See the difference? One sounds so much more shady than the other. Donating to my outstanding balance, especially had I given Virginia Piper permission to publish what my balance was (to make sure the money was going to pay the bill, not a credit on an account that was fully paid, hence coming right back to me in check form), seems so much more legit, IMO.
