When did you think of yourself as a winning player?
Hi everyone,
I have been playing poker for just over a year but spent 80% of that time playing SNGs. I recently made the switch completely to cash games and have been having mixed results. I have purchased cardrunners, learned a solid game (SNGs helped with the TAG aspect) and scour through message boards a fair amount. I came to the realization today that you just need a little bit more then that. It's a tough game and I thought I was traveling along well but perhaps I just need to keep toughing it out. Here is a graph from my latest deposit on UB from 25NL. I am not sure exactly what I am getting at. Perhaps just some enlightening tales of your transition from break even to winner. What were some of the things you did and how did you over come this hurdle? I know I am on the brink but I just feel I missing a little something... Thanks everyone and best wishes. |

Re: When did you think of yourself as a winning player?
- discuss and post hands
- watch videos - read stickys - read books - think about every decision you make on the table - to be continued... |

Re: When did you think of yourself as a winning player?
In my first online session I lost half my roll for NL10 with top set that lost to runner-runner flush. Down to $11. It has been smooth sailing ever since.
I would drop down. Whenever I donīt feel like a champ I play a little NL2. It is very terapeutic to shove ATo pf for value 200 bb deep. I think confidence is a pretty big thing. That is why I suck so often. |

Whenever I play some 2NL, I feel like wtf omg I wanna quit poker I rather play some playmoney
Seriously though, its norm It takes time and discipline. |

Well at least you're winning
I became a winning player by just learning pretty basic concepts like cbetting and folding marginal hands. You probably have a few leaks or so and once they get patched up you'll be winning big in no time. Also remember you don't have to be good at poker, just better than the people you're playing with. |

Re: When did you think of yourself as a winning player?
ive played like 200k hands and im still not confident enough to call myself a winning player. im more concerned with improvement than saying "yay i made it" because theres always something to learn

Re: When did you think of yourself as a winning player?
I think until we low limit ballers are at 10/20 NL, none of us can really say we've "made it" or reached the "promised land of poker". I think at 10/20 and above at that point it's more about theory and reads than actually what 2 cards you have in your hand about 80% of the time, from there on up, guys have almost no regard for $ as long as they see a play as being profitable.
