Yeah but you have a limit at 250 km/h (155 mph) in many cars.

I was driving 155 with a several year old BMW 545 on several occasions. Once I was able to maintain that speed for almost 5 minutes, because the traffic allowed it.
(Germany, not my own car)

145 on 95s in CT somewhere between exits 90 and 80. (was 19 at the time) 1993 RX-7. I shut it down after not realizing how fast I was going. It would have been a smooth ride had the wind not nudged the 2700 lb. car 1-2 feet laterally. I wisened up to the fact that you could really eff yourself up(re: die in a gasoline fire, or collision with pole, car, animal, etc).
Sold the rx-7 about 4 years ago to another kid/young guy from Long Island that totalled his rx-7 in the rain.
Now my wrx barely sees 85.

Edit: this was in the wee hours of the morning and looking back on this, it was really stupid.

Q. If you are driving super fast along a highway i.e. LA to LV or NY to Boston, how likely are you to get busted by cops?

[/ QUOTE ]

NY to Boston is like trooper central in many stretches, that's how they pay the bills in those townships. 99% unless you are lucky or radar-aided.

It's funny how we've almost all been up around 120+ when we were younger and these are our thoughts:

1) It is awesome
2) Man, if I blew a tire, I'm a goner.
3) I haven't been close to that in ___ days.

I cringe thinking that my future kid will someday get a 4 cylinder up into triple digits just to see what it's like. But, it seems like human nature for those of us who enjoy going fast

~120 in a beater '73 olds cutlass supreme on a "2" lane country-ish road. smelled smoke and slowed down. dumbest thing I've ever done.

I don't think it's this high, cars are so survivable these days. You can get into some really nasty wrecks and just walk away.
