Strange reactions to popular foods

I agree with teh potato chip fart guy, lays when you initially open teh bag smells like farts, but its just because of the gas they use (nitrogen I think?). Once that is gone, it smells good.

People's aversion to cotton balls seems strange to me, but I'm the same way about styofoam. The squeak it makes when you handle it just makes my insides squirm.

As for foods, I can't really eat Papaya, way too 'fibry' for a fruit, no flavor, I can barely choke it down (love mango though).

Can't think of anything that makes me react THAT badly off the top of my head. I guess raw-oysters on the half-shell perhaps but I don't think it's that unusual to be grossed-out by those things.

My ex couldn't stand celery AT ALL.
Just the littlest bite of it in a salad or in some chinese dish or something grossed her out.
It was too stringy or something.

Current GF can't stand Root Beer. Says it's the most disgusting thing she's ever tasted in her life and she simply cannot drink the stuff and can't understand how it's even humanly possible for anyone else to like it.

The smell of cheese makes me gag. When someone puts cheese in the refrigerator I hold my breath when I open the door. And I can smell if cheese has been in a room in the past 20 minutes. Cheese sucks.

Fries and ketchup is a ridicilous combination anyway, crazy Americans (and Spaniards... among others, probably).

Asked for mayonaise in a NY McDonalds and actually got it. It was some of the most terrible mayonaise I ever ate but the "wtf is this guy serious?!" stare of the employee made it well worth making her get it for me.

And to stay on-topic -> besides (Brussels) sprout(s) I can't think of any regular food that makes me gag. Not too fond of mussels and sauerkraut though.

I got the exact same thing going on but it is caused by the elastic being pulled out of cotton socks. If for example it gets caught on a fingernail.

i can't handle cotton balls or nails on a chalkboard, but the worst for me is those pulpy drink trays you get at fast food places. i can't even look at those without getting chills.

Just to add some info into the fry ketchup/mayo discussion,

Every single burger place in Idaho and Utah with no exceptions serves fry sauce which is more or less a 50-50 blend of ketchup and mayo. this practice bleeds a bit into washington, colorado, montana et al, but it is absolutely standard in idaho and utah.

lack of accessible fry sauce is really holding in and out back imo.
