4/1 Mets-Cardinals
Taking the Mets over 3.5 runs. With Reyes (S), Loduca (R), Wright (R), Beltran (S), Delgado (L), Alou (R), Green (L), Valentin (S) going against Carpenter on the road they should put up 5.563 runs.
Lefties average an OBP of .344 and SLG of .458 off him with a BA of .282. OBP/SLG v RHP for Reyes (.318/.421) , Beltran (.355/.492), Delgado (.406/.596), Green (.366/.520) and Valentin (.332/.489)splits are all above average vs. RHP. Throw in Wright vs RHP (.372/.530), Loduca v Rhp(.332/.403) and Alou v RHP(.360/.504) and the Mets should be able to cover the 3.5. The St. Louis pen is also a little shaky. Not sure that B. Thompson and Flores are quality and Isringhausen hasn't been a model of health and performance. Being on the road will also assure 27 full at bats to get the runs. Good luck. |

Re: 4/1 Mets-Cardinals
A well-reasoned and thought out play - unlike the OP, who bothered to explain what he was thinking and why he was making the play.

Thanks Whipsaw. That Mets offense looks awesome. If Carpenter has trouble with them, it might be a long season for the rest of the NL pitchers who have to face them.

[/ QUOTE ] i'm watching the game right now, and they don't look that overpowering to me - actually a little overrated IMO. i think it's going to be a long year for carpenter, as he constantly has to pitch perfect games b/c his offense gives him nothing - kind of like the big unit a few years back with arizona. teams will just walk pujols and force everyone else to have a big game. i'm probably going to fade carp a lot early this year. also, glavine will not look like this all year. edit: the cards need a new left fielder PRONTO. he has cost them enough in this game and sucks at the plate. |
