Default Percentage of time spent actually working.

I started a new job last week and I'm just wondering how much time during the working day 2p2ers with real office jobs actually spend doing work. Including lunch breaks/internet browsing/etc, I spend about 20% of my time at the office doing work related tasks.

Needless to say I will be unemployed in the near future.

Way less than 25%. Probably under 10%. That is going to change soon, but so far... wow it's been good.

At my job this past summer there were entire days where I didn't do anything. I'd come in, browse 2+2, research jobs for next summer, work on my resume and writing sample, read books, etc.

As soon as someone asked me to do something I did it 100% right away, then just kept it there til they asked for it and I'd always have it on demand. I just didn't search out extra work (filing, organizing, etc.) and I didn't go them when I finished assignments because they were usually on the phone with pissed off looks on their faces.

I think it depends on your job.

Doctors, lawyers, quant analysts dont frequent 2p2.

I "work" 6:45-2:45 for the gov.

6:45-8:30 surf net
8:30-9:30 real work (when coworkers are arriving)
9:00-11:15 surf
11:15-12:00 lunch
12:00-1:30 work (when they are getting back from lunch)
1:30-2:45 surf

God 2:45 cant come soon enough.

50/50-ish

What a joke office jobs can be.

I should have said "can I get a 25 percent raise if I start working for 75 percent of the day."

I work for the government and I spend maybe 30 minutes a day doing real work and the rest of my time on the interweb

I work at my dad's car dealership and I play poker pretty much the entire day in my office. The only time I actually work is when someone needs a car billed out or needs special financing.

I think I'd be terrible if I just had some random office job, but I'll be efficient as a lawyer due to the billing system and the fact that I'll be paid well and treated like I'm important.
