Tattoos are awesome and you should definitely get one. I recommend the face or neck area so people can see it.

I have two giant tattoos written in Mandarin - the one down the left arm means "Assertive", and the one down the right arm means "Confrontational". I don't regret them and live by them daily.

wasn't there some junk about the meanings of these characters being 'lost in translation.' I seem to remember rumors that the 'warrior' symbol actually meant 'I have killed a man.'

Regardless, unless you are with someone who knows what the symbol means, you can pass it off as whatever suits you at the time.

EDIT: I can't find the ATOMIC symbol tattoo. No tattoo thread should exist w/o it.

I have a life-sized tattoo of my face on my chest. The effect when I take my shirt off is breathtaking, and chicks really love it.

I also have the Chinese symbol for the word "cymbal" on my neck. Chicks and employers really love it.

So, in short, OP, yes.

No dude don't get a tattoo.
A couple years ago I got a tattoo of what I thought was the Chinese character for "strength". It turns out that it was the Chinese character for "of two men who love each other, I am the one who plays the woman". So yeah, now I can't show my chest to any Chinese people. It's bad.
