Cash Out By Check?

I have a little over $1000 at a pokersite they gave me 2 choices to cash out: 1) by Fedex check or 2) Western Union.
Since Western Unions fee is higher. I chose check. Now my questions are:
1)The bank issues the check will be a foreign bank(Canadian), will my bank cash their check?
2)Does check make it more suspicious for the irs?
