Default HERO is a calling station

Comments on entire hand please, I need the help...

$1/2 NL Four handed

UTG raises to 7
HERO (BB) calls 7 w/ 8:spades:9:spades:

flop Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]6 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img]

HERO checks
Villain bets $15
- Hero thinks, continuation bet, I could raise here but that would be turning my hand into a bluff (that's not good right?)

HERO calls

turn is 4[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

HERO checks???
Villain bets $35

HERO "this might be a double barrel should I call here?"
HERO calls

River T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]
HERO checks
Villain bet $65
HERO "says [censored] it, and calls"

why is c/r so bad our hand is vulnerable and villain rarely has q

if villain rarely has a queen then we will have the best hand here most of the time right? Then why the hell would we check raise with the best hand that has showdown value. You can check raise with 22 here, or with A high or something, but checkraising with 89 is kinda bad.

folding pf is gib.
if u dont have a read that villain is overly aggro then turn is an easy muck, its not a card too many players will bluff on. Calling flop is fine at these stakes since ppl play so straightforward and assume that most ppl are calling stations (rightly so apparently) and therefore dont fire double barrels as frequently as would be needed to justify calling down.

edit: nvm, thought we were in position, fold pf is prob the right play without good post flop reads but calling isnt hideous or anything.

Don't fold PF 4 handed. 3bet or call is fine.

Although cr'ing does turn your hand into a bluff, it is a 5 out semibluff. Plus, who cares? Sometimes your hand has value in multiple directions. Calling down is ok, but villian has to be an overaggro LAG. Although even then I think c/r turn might be better. These passive lines put you to tough decisions and increase variance. If your read is good enough it probably is the most +EV, but at SSNL I prefer the aggressive lines.

c/r flop > fold flop > c/r turn > call down

well we're basically bluffing/trying to fold out 6 outers, yea? I'd rather c/r with a pp that has 2 outs to improve rather than middle pair since if villain actually has a hand and shoves, we have to fold a 5 outter and forfeit our share of pot equity.
