Melo was out for 15 games last year. The team went 10-1 in their last 11 games and gave the Spurs all they could handle. Sure they lost in 5 games but tell me that Spurs fan wasn't scared in their first 3 games of that series.

pretty sure the lack of attention shows you've succeeded. Now it's quite hilarious. I read "honduras" and completely bought it.

But they went to the WCF. They went 9-8 in the playoffs. I think that's better than 1-4 in the playoffs if your really going to use last year as a comparison.

[/ QUOTE ]

Fail

If we were given the Jazz path we would've gone 9-7. LDO.

I doubt Denver would have beaten Houston.

They are an interesting as no one in their lineup is great but no one is really bad either.

I just think they're underrated. They won 31 last year but lost Allen and Lewis. Allen had declined last year anyway and Lewis was their best player but I think their collective group of decent players should make them more competitive than people are giving them credit for.

[/ QUOTE ]

Dunno. If they overachieve and win 25 games instead of the 22 most expect, does that really mean they are "underrated". I mean, technically, maybe. But really? nah. They just suck.

Based on this coming year only, who is their best player? Ummmmmm, Nick Collison? Delonte West? Chris Wilcox? It won't be the rookies. Man, this team is simply bereft of "now" talent.

[/ QUOTE ]

Kevin Durant and its not close.

[/ QUOTE ]

No. Kevin Durant will not be their best player this year. He is slow on defense, does little but float around the perimeter to catch the ball on offense. He may score the most points on the team simply because he takes the most shots, but that isn't equal to best player this year.

[/ QUOTE ]

I disagree, but then again I'm higher on Durant than most.

Nuggets homer argument:

Everyone in this thread is underestimating the Nuggets.

The Nuggets went 18-9 to finish the season and played the San Antonio Spurs, the eventual champions, EXTREMELY tough plaiying 4 very close games and 1 blowout at the end

AI and Melo have been gelling all offseason, hanging out tons together

JR Smith has an eye opening car accident and grew up tons

Kenyon Martin is in the best shape he's been in in 5 years

Everyone for some reason doesn't want to give this team credit, but they are hands down better than the Jazz

And given that the Blazers/Sonics/T-Celtics consist of 15% of our schedule, we will probably be 10-2 or so in those games, as the Mavs/Spurs/Rockets all beat up on each other

So while we may not be a top 3 team in the west, we're probably number 4 and you could possibly see a more driven team this year, resulting in possibly gaining a top 3 seed and deserving it for once

Just don't count us out

[/ QUOTE ]

"Hands down" better than the Jazz is a ridiculous statement and you know it.

However overall I agree with you, and I think they could definitely be a contender this year.
