Re: Forum Project Step 2-3
I also use EMS Sql Manager. I use the lite version and it is free and can be downloaded from their website for free.

Re: Forum Project Step 2-3
Guys, thanks so much for the suggestions. It looks like these might make things easier. Once my host gets my SSH connection issues resolved I will definitely give one of these a try.

Re: Forum Project Step 2-3
UncleSalty,
If you have access through phpmyadmin, you can do pretty much anything you want with mysql databases. I get access to this through my cpanel interface, so there is no need for SSH login. From phpmyadmin you should be able to import a database or create tables, whatever you need. Let me know if you need more explicit directions to this. To help you further I need to know what you are working with. Did the install on your local machine come with a database that you need to import? Or did it give instructions to create one? Max |

Re: Forum Project Step 2-3
For those looking for free joomla templates:
free templates The site isn't entirely in english but it is pretty simple to download/install a template. There is probably 700-800 templates on there. All of them should be free. |

Re: Forum Project Step 2-3
Max you're a lifesaver!!
Turns out I didn't need the SSH access after all, I just didn't realize that the "query" part of PHPMyAdmin was where I could run the scripts that would copy the schema to my database. I've got a basic Drupal installation done and working, and have configured my administrator account. Now I just need to figure out how to use the damn thing. Re: Forum Project Step 2-3
That Youtube video is excellent. (See Riazor's post above) I dumped my fantastico install and it took me about 45 mins to get everything installed and running per the youtube tutorial.
It would have taken me about 15 mins, but the tutorial uses a mac to the myphpadmin part looked different and it took me a few extra mins to find the options for the stuff he did. Anyways, I got the site setup, selected a theme to use for now and set up a couple of different roles. Now I need some content. Pancho |

Re: Forum Project Step 2-3
Does anyone know how to use a CSS stylesheet with drupal instead of a full theme? I've found some that I like better than the themes that are out there. If not I'll just spend some time on the Drupal forums, just thought I'd see if there was any easy knowledge out there.

Re: Forum Project Step 2-3
Can someone help a complete newb? I'm not sure what to do next.
So far I have picked a niche of Initial Public Offerings. I am going to list upcoming offerings and track their performances. I will also have just general info about IPOs. I have also registered my domain www.initialstockoffering.com with 1and1. Now what do I do? I need one of those drupal or joomla programs right? The youtube video said I need php, mysql, and apache. Are those already on my computer, did they come with my 1and1 hosting, or do I need to find and download them from the web. Do I make the content on drupal and then upload it to my 1and1 control panel? Sadly I'm not even sure if I'm asking the right questions. Any help would be great. |
