What factors make betting better than checking on this flop?

I agree with BigWig. c-bet 12o on flop and fold to a raise. If he calls the c-bet I have no idea what to do.

I make it t100 preflop, but it doesn't matter.

I make a small ~1/2 pot c-bet at the flop.

As played getting checkraised is puketastic and I don't feel confident telling you what to do.
