My $.02 about online poker and cheating
I concluded long ago that due to possibility of sharing information between players using IM, and the possibility of one player playing multiple accounts at the same table with different IP's, or boiler rooms full of people playing the same table and sharing information, (this does not mention the possible use of information from hand history databases that can be subscribed to by groups of cheaters) online poker is no longer a viable or trustworthy way to play. In fact, I believe that this is so widespread that those not participating are at a significant disadvantage, even in small games. What's more, I think that a significant body of 2p2r's engage in this kind of activity. The fact that known cheats (Zeejustin and his ilk) are still allowed to post here is evidence of this.
The fact is that a community such as 2p2 has little or no power to stop the practice, especially if insiders at the poker sites are involved. These sites are offshore and far beyond influence. This is why I withdrew all my funds from online many moons ago. |

[ QUOTE ] I can't think of any steps AP could take that would make it anything less than a disgrace if they were to remain a viable business. [/ QUOTE ] Can't you? [/ QUOTE ] Nothing to do with them falling on their own sword. More that anyone who plays at a site shown to have been croked at the hisghest levels does a disservice to the online poker community by validating claims that sites are rigged and players are cheated. I think it would be disgraceful if players didn't vote with their online bankrolls. Edited to clarify that the section you quaoted from my post has been removed from it's context, and that my stance is contingent on it being shown that this was a scam perpetrated by high up insiders abusing their power, rather than one bad apple. |
