Wouldn't calling down here mean he's getting it all in by the river? Unless the villians opts for a river check.
This is actually kind of tricky, and calling that small bet on the turn actually gets you near pot committedness. I know I'd take the same flop line as the villian with 55 A8 or air. I'm reraising him, and if he has an 8 I'm catching a king on the river anyways.

my thinking:

since no reads, i'd go with typical lines and combos

lines: people generally slowplay trips on non-drawy (and often drawy) flops. people do take this line with an overpair

combos: beating us: eight A8, four K8, 8 Q8, etc. three 55; so about 40 or more (since people generally don't call pf with some hands like 82, 83, etc); hands that are losing to us: 6 combos of each: 99-QQ = 24. but you'd expect QQ and maybe JJ to reraise pf a decent % of time. so maybe weight combos down to like 18 to 20 or so.

then, given his flop line, i'd reduce weight of 40 or more combos beating us to like 10 or 12 since people will only raise here about 25% to 30% of the time with trips or better (if even that much).

conclusion: i'd repop him somewhere

depends on villain, i would drop the hand against unknown... I give him a good chance of having something like A8s, or pocket 5's and filling a boat on the flop. Either ways, no matter how you interpret your opponent to be, calling is definitely wrong. IMO...
