Re: AKs in a 3bet pot, line check
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] So I'm wrong for thinking his range is basicly JJ+, AK here? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah, I think that's wrong. All he did was open-raise on the button and call a reraise. I'd assume a much wider range -- things like pocket pairs and many suited hands are definitely in there. [/ QUOTE ] Isn't the question here 'What range does he have YOU on?' If it's 99+, AQs+, then the K may not be so scary, no? If you only 3-bet AK+, QQ+ then yah ok his range may narrow somewhat. I've been 3-betting 99+, AQs+ in 6-max lately. And I've called a re-raise with 55 (and stacked QQ). If he missed the flop you're getting nothing anyway... why give him draws to his marginal hand? |

Re: AKs in a 3bet pot, line check
lots of people call 3-bets with any pair, suited connectors, KQ, AJ, in addition to premium hands

Re: AKs in a 3bet pot, line check
Kingotter: if he thinks about my hands, he must give me a bigger range. I 3bet ligt, especially in position, but whenever I get called (not often) I'm guessing they must have a good hand.
My check was not for pot control or anything, vs a JJ+,AK range there seems to be no value in a cbet. Thank you Josh for pointing out I was giving him a way too tight range, obv vs your range this is an easy bet. |

Re: AKs in a 3bet pot, line check
The fact that villain also has position on you is reason enough for him to call a 3-bet with more than JJ+ and AK.
