Default How is this shove?

$15,000 Guarantee (Rebuy)
Final two tables

The button was recently the dominant chip leader at this table. However, he has already doubled me up twice. The first time was my A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]10 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] against his Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]8 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. The second time was my AQ vs. A10. This hand happened soon after.

I knew he would love to bust me. In this situation, I was quite confident that I had the best hand. The CO raise to less than 3x the BB didn't really concern me too much. Also, I didn't figure the button would be interested in trapping with a monster there after just losing a huge chunk of chips to me.

I suppose I could have popped it to 60k or so and then shove the flop, but I just decided shoving it all preflop was the better play. What do you guys think?

I don't mind this shove. Its not a horrible move. Maybe a little bit of an overbet but not horrible. My concern would be the villains calling range. How tight was the villain? Is his range for calling a shove TT+, AQs+, AK? Or might be be looser than that?

I go for it. There's a good 34K out there, with both villains having quite wide ranges.

Raising to 60K: Likely tightens their ranges, making your hand look less like a squeeze. (You likely aren't folding after doing that, obv.)

Shoving: Loosens their ranges. Your hand looks a lot like a squeeze, raising a CO open and BTN call.

I think, whether you shove or put 60K in, you're likely getting action from hands you beat (TT+), so I shove hoping to possibly look like AK / AQ, and maybe get some action from 88 / 77, also.

Adding in your read of BTN, shoving looks really good to me here.

Bingo. That's what I was thinking.
