He's got a bit of a cleaner voice, the Modest Mouse guy is a little scratchy I think, but yeah I definitely hear the resemblance too. I love this cd, you should definitely check it out.

I'm surprised more people here have never heard the CWK before.

They are a really excellent band that has a pretty unique sound. Definitely one of the better new bands around.

i'm suprised at how much you guys are praising CWK. i think they're mediocre. sounds like the singer finally moved on from a funk cover band he was in.

you do realize that like 90% if the posts in thread were made by two people? only one of which who has heard more than 5 minutes of their music.

The EDF music thread had some discussion about this album.

Scroll down to the bottom.

SO, basically I feel exactly the same way as mbillie.
I saw "Hang Me Up To Dry" last summer on MTV late night. I was just really bored and flipping channels and was intrigued by the opening, hypnotic bassline. I thought, well I'll give MTV a shot to impress me. And for once, I LOVED something I saw on that channel. The song rocks with that kind of disjointed rhythm and the music video kicks ass too.

Then I dled the whole album and fell in love with it. Haven't been this excited for an album since Funeral and seriously I feel just like mbillie in that practically the only thing I've been listening to for the past 6 months is CWK. You can't help but want to listen to them all the time, and when I don't I have withdrawals.

The first 8 songs are like the strongest first 8 songs I've ever heard. I'll be on the metro with my ipod on and I will start with the intention of just listening to "We Used To Vacation" but then be drawn in and just listen to every song. Seriously, as an album as a whole, this thing is as solid as it can get. Must listen from start to finish.

Saw them at Bonnaroo in the summer and they rocked, they covered "A Change Is Gonna Come". I didn't even know they were gonna be at Rock en Seine but they were put on the bill last minute because Amy Winehouse was being a crackwhore, probably the best surprise of my summer. Saw them last week here in Paris, their set was short but solid. Played some new songs that I was really digging.

This album is already in my top 5 favorite of all time and I cannot wait to see what they offer next. (Although I shouldn't get my hopes up too high, I just hope they're not like so many other bands who shoot their creative load all on their first album and really just run out of steam subsequently.)

Just search on youtube, watch everything.

I just listened to the whole thing, I wasn't overly impressed, I would say that I liked it but it wasn't a religious experience or anything.
